Frequently Asked Questions
What is the No Room for Trafficking campaign?
No Room for Trafficking is a national, industry-wide initiative led by the Hotel Association of Canada, in partnership with the Canadian Centre to End Human Trafficking, that mobilizes hotels across the country to complete human trafficking awareness training and reinforce a shared commitment to prevention. By participating, hotels join a coordinated effort to strengthen awareness and recognition across Canada’s hotel industry ahead of National Human Trafficking Awareness Day on February 22, 2026.
What happens after a hotel commits to No Room for Trafficking?
Partners can get started right away ensuring 100% of their teams have completed Human Trafficking Awareness Training using either their in-house program or one of the free available programs.
Throughout January and February, HAC will continue to share updates, reminders, and campaign materials to support participation.
Do I have to sign up my individual property if my brand, management company, or ownership group is already listed as a campaign partner?
If your brand or hotel management company is already a partner in this initiative, there is no need for further action; however, if you would like to receive direct communications about the campaign, you are encouraged to complete the sign-up form.
What if my organization already has human trafficking awareness training in place?
This campaign is designed to amplify existing training programs. If you already have a program, this is the perfect opportunity to reinforce your efforts as part of a wider industry movement.
Does No Room for Trafficking include extra paperwork or audits?
No. This campaign is not a certification or audit program, with no additional paperwork required. No Room for Trafficking is a rallying call for collective action across the hotel industry, focused on awareness and participation rather than compliance.
Do partners need to report their training results?
Partners are encouraged — but not required — to complete a short follow-up survey in late February to help strengthen national reporting and inform future initiatives.
In late February, HAC will circulate a voluntary survey to gather:
• Participation insights
• General completion information
• Feedback to support planning for the 2027 initiative
Who should complete the training?
The campaign encourages all hotel staff to complete human trafficking awareness training, including:
• Front desk and guest services
• Housekeeping and maintenance
• Food and beverage teams
• Management and supervisory staff
• Security and operations
• General managers
The intent is full-property awareness and preparedness.
Is there a deadline to commit?
There is no deadline to commit. Hotel partners may confirm their participation at any time throughout January and February. Early commitment is encouraged to allow sufficient time to complete awareness and prevention training before February 22, 2026.
Will participating hotels be recognized?
Yes. Participating hotels will receive a certificate from the Hotel Association of Canada. Official partners, including brands, management companies, and ownership groups will also be acknowledged as part of the national effort on the No Room for Trafficking campaign webpage, on social media, and at the HAC national conference, March 4-5, 2026. HAC may also highlight participation through industry communications and reporting.
Who is HAC’s partner for this initiative?
HAC is proud to partner with the Canadian Centre to End Human Trafficking (CCTEHT), which provides expertise, resources, and support throughout the initiative.
CCTEHT operates the national Canadian Human Trafficking Hotline, a toll-free, 24/7 confidential service available at 1-833-900-1010, connecting victims, survivors, and the public with support, resources, and law enforcement in over 200 languages. You can also reach the hotline via online chat or form at their website, canadianhumantraffickinghotline.ca.
