The Hotel Workforce Action Plan
Addressing Canada’s Labour Shortage
Through the Government of Canada’s Tourism Relief Fund and a partnership with Deloitte Canada, HAC led the development of Canada’s first Hotel Workforce Action Plan. This report identifies major shifts in Canada’s workforce since COVID, why the hotel sector was disproportionately impacted, and challenges ahead. The Workforce Action Plan outlines immediate and longer-term actions for resolving the critical labour shortage issue domestically.
National Hotel Recruitment Campaign
Attracting Talent
We heard from members across the country that our sector needed a united message to better tell our story as a great place to work.
In support of hotel summer recruitment efforts we launched a campaign targeted to youth between 18 and 24 featuring young workers who share why they love the hotel industry. The campaign drove traffic to a HAC landing page and hotel job postings. This paid campaign was made possible through one-time funding from the Government of Canada.
HAC continues to tell the hotel industry’s story through organic social media and public relations marketing.
Workforce Advocacy
As global travel surges, our sector faces a critical workforce shortage, with hundreds of thousands of vacancies. To meet demand, we advocate for policies that will increase access to both domestic and international workers.
