HAC Issue Brief – Housing Shortage

Many HAC members are repurposing guest rooms to house refugees and staff, with some providing below-market housing options. Short-term rentals, dominated by commercial operators, are significantly driving up rental rates, adding over $2 billion in extra rent over five years in British Columbia alone.
