Joint Statement

The Canadian Hotel Industry Plays a Critical Role in Fighting Human Trafficking

On National Human Trafficking Awareness Day in Canada (February 22)—and every day—the hospitality industry is united in its fight against human trafficking and modern-day slavery.

Understanding Human Trafficking

Human trafficking is a significant global issue that involves the exploitation of vulnerable individuals and populations, often through forced labour or sexual exploitation. Hotels and other hospitality establishments are often used by traffickers to conduct their illegal activities. It is essential for hospitality workers to be informed about their role in addressing human trafficking and to be equipped with the necessary tools to respond effectively and safely.
